Our Story

About Need by Need

Founded in 2007 with an original mission to help nonprofits fulfill specific, physical needs (such as new mattresses for a children’s shelter), Need by Need’s focus has evolved over the years. Now, we’re dedicated to helping fulfill specific digital needs for nonprofits. How do we do this? Our main focus is helping nonprofits apply, set up, manage, and optimize Google’s Ad Grant that provides up to $10,000 a month in search advertising for qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

Our founder, Jonathan Williams, has a background in digital marketing. He wanted to take some of his knowledge and give back to nonprofits that might not be able to afford a full-service digital agency. He figured that if this was something he wanted to do, there must be others out there with the same desire. Therefore, he focused on building a community where current and aspiring digital marketers can learn and connect with other like-minded individuals to serve nonprofits in need.

Our Process

What We Do For Nonprofits

Apply

Our volunteers help nonprofits apply for a Google for Nonprofits account, TechSoup.org account, and ultimately the Google Ad Grant.

Setup

Upon approval, our volunteers help nonprofits set up their Google Ads account tied to their Ad Grant.

Manage

Our volunteers help manage the Google Ads account tied to the nonprofits’ Ad Grant, writing search advertising copy and targeted keywords.

Optimize

Our team helps monitor and optimize our partner nonprofits’ Google Ads accounts, providing them with an always up-to-date report on its progress.
